ilikerealfood.com was born in the Fall of 2009. What started out as an outlet to share my culinary adventures in and around the city, recipes that I concocted in the kitchen, my passion for health and wellness, and of course my love for REAL food, soon transcended into a nutrition & lifestyle consulting business.
My Philosophy
It is simple. Eat REAL food. As close to the ground and to its natural state as possible. It doesn’t have to complicated if you don’t want it to be. I don’t believe in counting calories, fat, carb or protein grams, and I definitely don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to nutrition. In fact, in my opinion, most diets miss the mark.
There are so many misguided notions around what constitutes a healthy diet which can easily add insult to injury when you’re trying to get healthier and free yourself of ailments. We are bombarded daily by conflicting messages in health and nutrition through the media and other institutions that do not necessarily have our best health interests in mind. Worst is that we are so far removed from where our food comes from that somewhere along the line it somehow became acceptable for people to eat all of their meals out of cardboard boxes and tin cans.
While I don’t subscribe to any particular label when it comes to diet, I strongly believe that a vegetable-centric approach is best whether you choose to follow a plant-based diet or include animal products. The best foods are the ones that are easily digested, assimilated and then fully eliminated by the body.
With that said, I truly believe that deep cellular cleansing is the key to experiencing vibrant health on a physical, emotional and mental level. This means eating and living in a way that supports the body’s natural ability to detoxify, while negating further accumulation of waste and its by-products that contribute to food cravings & addictions and perpetuate the vicious cycle. It is only once we remove the obstructions and blockages on both the microcosmic and macrocosmic levels of the body, that we can unlock our highest potential for radiant health and truly live our most authentic lives.
My Approach
My approach to nutrition and health is holistic in nature. This means I acknowledge that our health is dependent on more than just dietary factors. When I work with clients one-on-one I take into account physical, emotional & mental factors, lifestyle and biochemical individuality. Everyone has a different starting point and needs to transition accordingly to a new diet-lifestyle. It’s about progress NOT perfection. This is why my programs are flexible in approach, are adaptable to many lifestyles, and are always designed around nourishment, pleasure and indulgence.
In both my professional and personal experience I have found that many people embark on a new health program with an aesthetic goal in mind, such as weight loss. It’s only after they experience an abundance of newfound energy, improved digestion, mental clarity, improved sleep quality and a natural state of well-being that they realize aesthetic factors are simply just the icing on the cake!
